I've been a die hard Adobe addict but my latest Creative Suite will not install in my new Mac (high Sierra) and they are working on a fix with no date. In the meantime is there a similar program I can use to create artwork (export SVG) for use in this program?

inkscape (free at inkscape.org) is probably the most popular free alternative.
I think that one drawback is that you cannot view and easily change the order of the layers in it. Lack of layer menu isn't really a problem if you draw the stroked paths in your SVG in the same order that you want them to be drawn by videoscribe. (I haven't used inkscape in a long time so more layer functionality may have been added in recent versions.)
