Slow Down the speed that straight lines are rendered? (SVGs)

Is there a way to slow down the speed at which straight line segments are drawn as compared to paths created with the pencil tool (in illustrator).

I find that when I'm creating SVG's, straight lines are drawn very very quickly and the squiggly lines I create with my pencil tool in illustrator are drawn much slower.  Slowing down the animation in VideoScribe doesn't help...well it does, the straight lines draw slower after doing so but then the paths created via the pencil tool go SUPER DUPER SLOW.

You can add more anchor points to your straight lines and pull out the handles further. to make them use a larger percentage of the draw time.

(when adding anchor points with the pen tool, click and drag to extend the handles)
