One of the strengths of Videoscribe is it's ability to draw on text (and stroked images) using a hand and pen. One of it's biggest weaknesses is the lack of any tools to help with this. You can only add text in Illustrator or Inkscape using tedious and time consuming workarounds and it doesn't always work as desired. Considering text is a major element in a lot of scribes this seems unsatisfactory.
Here's the list of what is missing to do a professional text layout job:
No kerning. No interletter spacing. No leading. No snap to grid or alignment tools of any kind. No ability to change the colour of individual text elements. No bold, underline or italics on individual words. I've probably missed some.
Even this message board has better text tools.
