I think they used a hand to 'move' an object in but edited it to reverse the movement in editing software? If that makes sense? Would be happy to be corrected though ;-)
@Louise: I think you're right, but I still don't know how to do that. Maybe someone there can help... :) @Mike: Sorry, but this is not the answer. I know how to erase like that. Have a look at the link.

Hi,
The video at the link you provided was made using a video camera and drawings on cutout pieces of paper moved around on a white surface. If you watch closely, you can sometimes see the edges of the paper cutouts.
There is not an easy or automatic way to simulate that in videoscribe.
